Whether you are writing to your teacher, applying for a job, or communicating with colleagues, using the right expressions makes your email polite, clear, and professional. Starting Your Email (Greetings) The way you begin an email sets the tone for the whole message. These are called the 'active voice' and the 'passive voice'.  Understanding these two forms will help you write and speak English more clearly and naturally.
